A new locally-sourced grocer plans on opening this week in Avondale.

Red Bird Produce, located at 131 41st St. S., will open Tuesday at 10 a.m. Operating hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Owner Casey Hobbs is collaborating with Beloved Community Church to bring the grocery concept to life. Described on the website as “a West Coast guy growing up around migrated hippies,” Hobbs brings a background in restaurants around food to the concept.

“Over the years I’ve found that there’s nothing like fresh produce to inspire new dishes, save money and feed my family well,” Hobbs said in a statement at the website.

According to the store’s social media page, it will offer fresh farm eggs, locally-sourced Eastaboga Honey and other products.
