Recruiting update: Valley basketball players generate football interest; commitments, offers

A trio of Valley upcoming seniors helped the Rams to the AHSAA Class 5A basketball title last season.

Jay Harper, Cam Dooley and Ian Crim-Davis are also creating a buzz on the football recruiting trail this summer.

Harper committed to Wisconsin on Friday while Dooley has multiple offers and Crim-Davis picked up his first offer from UAB.

A 6-foot, 170-pound 3-star cornerback, Harper chose Wisconsin over offers from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UAB, West Virginia and others. He had 48 tackles and two interceptions last season.

Dooley played quarterback for the Rams, accounting for 1,098 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s rated a 3-star prospect at athlete with offers from Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt, UAB, Jacksonville State, Tulane and more. He was also first team all-state in basketball.

Crim-Davis is a 6-foot, 170-pound DB.

COMMITMENTS

BTW-Tuskegee’s Elijah Hall committed to Troy on Friday. The 3-star senior 5-10, 175-pound defensive back chose the Trojans over offers from Arkansas, South Carolina, Indiana, UAB, Southern Miss, Army, Arkansas State and others.

OFFERS

UAB was also the first offer for two more state players in Oxford’s Camare Hampton and Gardendale’s Ian Mitchell.

Hampton is a 6-2, 178-pound senior WR/DB while Mitchell is a 6-4, 215-pound junior outside linebacker.
