Recruiting update: Pike Road 4-star plans to commit on Saturday; more news

Pike Road defensive lineman Malik Blocton has narrowed his list and will commit on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound senior 4-star recruit will choose from among Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Texas and Troy after earning over 40 offers. The list included 10 of 12 SEC schools along with Clemson, Texas, USC and more.

Most recruiting services predict Blocton to choose either Auburn or Texas.

Blocton was ASWA Class 6A second team all-state last season after contributing 54 tackles with five for-loss, and 12 sacks.

Rivals ranks Blocton the No. 14 senior recruit and nationally the No. 21 strongside defensive end.

In other recruiting news:

Four Central-Phenix City senior recruits announced commitments on Tuesday.

The top-ranked senior in the state, Cam Coleman committed to Texas A&M while Rydarrius Morgan committed to Florida State, Jiquan Sanks chose Cincinnati and Zach Simmons picked Western Kentucky.

Morgan is a 6-foot, 175-pound 3-star defensive back who narrowed a list of more than 20 offers to a top 6 of Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Miami, Florida State and Cincinnati.

There were 18 offers for the 5-11, 175-pound Sanks, who chose the Bearcats over Georgia Tech, Houston, Indiana, Boston College, Memphis, UAB, Western Kentucky, Marshall and more.

The 3-star Simmons, a 5-10, 175-pound running back, picked Western Kentucky over UAB.

OFFERS

Louisville offered a pair of 4-star junior defensive linemen in Spain Park’s Jared Smith and Saraland’s Antonio Coleman.

The 6-6, 230-pound Smith has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Michigan, USC, Texas, Miami, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and more.

Coleman’s list includes Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, UAB and more.
