Recruiting update: Parker’s Vodney Cleveland chooses SEC school, more news

Parker’s Vodney Cleveland announced today on social media his commitment to Texas.

A 6-foot-4, 308-pound senior defensive lineman, Cleveland had loads of offers and originally committed to Alabama, but Texas emerged as the leader following the June 13 visit to the Longhorns.

One of the keys to Parker’s 2024 Class 6A football championship was its defensive line that included Auburn signee Jourdin Crawford along with Cleveland and Robert Taylor III, now a junior.

Cleveland had 41 tackles with 6 for-loss and 5 sacks last season.

“Vodney is a very respectful kid, a ‘yes sir. no sir’ guy,” said Parker coach Frank Warren. “He comes from a great supportive family, he works hard on and off the field and he puts in work outside of just regular practice. He really works on his craft. He’s a very dominant player on the field. It’s hard to miss a kid like that on the field.”
