Recruiting update: Commitments and another SEC offer highlight state prospects

A trio of commitments and another SEC offer for a highly ranked running back highlight recent college football state recruiting.

One of the leaders of Andalusia’s defense during the 2022 Class 4A title run, Kam Weaver committed to Charlotte.

Weaver contributed 51 tackles with 15 TFL, 2 sacks and 2 interceptions, both returned for touchdowns last season, and also forced a fumble that he returned for a score.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound senior narrowed his substantial list to four — Jacksonville State, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte and Southern Miss — before committing to the 49ers.

Loachapoka’s Jamari Payne committed to Purdue after narrowing his list to the Boilermakers, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Memphis, Western Kentucky and Alabama State. The 6-3, 250-pound defensive lineman is a senior.

Ziggy Holloway of St. James committed to Georgia Southern over offers from Marshall, Jacksonville State and North Alabama. Holloway is a senior 6-foot, 165-pound ATH.

OFFERS

Elba 4-star running back Alvin Henderson added Florida to his impressive list. The 5-10, 190-pound junior also has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas, USC, Oregon, Stanford, Penn State, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Nebraska and more.

Henderson was Class 1A first team last season and is ranked by Rivals as the No. 7 state prospect in the Class of 2025 and No. 84 in the ESPN 300.

Minor senior 6-4, 236-pound DE/OLB Drew Collins picked up a recent Arkansas State offer. The brother of Florida defensive lineman and former Gardendale star Kelby Collins, the younger Collins also has offers from UAB, Western Kentucky, Austin Peay, Troy, Georgia Southern and more.

Thompson’s Cam Pritchett has two early offers from Texas A&M and Texas. Pritchett is a 6-3, 205-pound freshman.
