Record-tying temperature on Tuesday in one Alabama city
One Alabama city tied its daily record high temperature on Tuesday, and more above-average readings look to be possible on Wednesday as well.
Huntsville topped out at 82 degrees on Tuesday, tying its record high for Nov. 7, which it set just last year.
Other Alabama cities didn’t rewrite the record books but came close on Tuesday:
Anniston: 82 degrees (record is 83 in 2005)
Birmingham: 82 degrees (record is 85 in 2022)
Dothan: 82 degrees (record is 88 in 2022)
Mobile: 83 degrees (record is 86 in 2022)
Montgomery: 82 degrees (record is 87 in 2022)
Muscle Shoals: 82 degrees (record is 84 in 1909)
Tuscaloosa: 82 degrees (record is 88 in 2022)
The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures tomorrow (Wednesday) to climb back into the 80s statewide, with some spots in south-central Alabama possibly reaching the mid-80s. (Wednesday’s forecast is at the top of this post.)
The above-average temperatures could begin to come to an end with the arrival of a cold front on Thursday. The weather service is expecting cooler weather in the wake of the front, which could also bring some much needed rain to the drought-stricken state.
Here are the forecast highs for Thursday:
