Record high temperature in Mobile on Friday
The heat was still on in the southern half of Alabama on Friday, and one city got to add to the record book.
Mobile reached 83 degrees on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. That broke the existing record high for Feb. 24, which was 81. That record was set in 2018.
Mobile’s entry into the warm weather record book marks the third day in a row of record warmth for at least one place Alabama.
Spring-like warmth continued across the southern part of the state on Friday, while cooler weather prevailed up north.
Some of Friday’s high temperatures show the spread:
Anniston: 72 degrees
Auburn: 77 degrees
Birmingham: 72 degrees
Dothan: 84 degrees
Huntsville: 68 degrees
Montgomery: 81 degrees
Muscle Shoals: 68 degrees
Troy: 84 degrees
Tuscaloosa: 71 degrees
Saturday is expected to be another day like today, with cooler temperatures in north Alabama and more spring-like warmth in the south. (Saturday’s forecast from the National Weather Service is at the top of this post.)
Temperatures are expected to increase statewide by Sunday and into next week.
