The Ravens and 49ers have advanced to conference championship Sunday and the teams are seemingly on a collision course to meet in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII.

Some conspiracy theorists believe a rematch between Baltimore and San Francisco is already a lock. The theory derives from the fact that the past two Super Bowl logos featured the colors of the teams that played in the big game.

The colors for the Super Bowl LVIII logo? Purple and red. The Ravens and 49ers are odds favorites in their conference championship matchups, and all signs point to the theory holding true for a third consecutive Super Bowl.

Before Baltimore can potentially take down San Francisco in the Super Bowl, though, the Ravens must get through Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Mahomes is the most experienced postseason QB remaining and has now made the AFC Championship in each of his six seasons as Kansas City’s starter, holding a 3-2 record.

The Chiefs’ offense had a disappointing regular season but flipped the switch in the playoffs. KC surpassed 25 points in the wild card and divisional rounds, with Mahomes throwing for 477 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Isiah Pacheco has shown more consistency than in the regular season, rushing for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

But the Ravens’ defense is well-suited to end the Chiefs’ season after surrendering just over 200 total yards and 10 points in a 34-10 blowout victory vs. the Texans. Baltimore’s physicality is unmatched, and Lamar Jackson played like an MVP in the divisional round win.

Baltimore proved it can top San Francisco after dominating the 49ers in a 14-point road victory in Week 16. Brock Purdy’s 255-yard, four-interception outing was his worst of the year, while Jackson had 297 total yards and two scores.

Purdy is typically reliable but his accuracy issues in the divisional round are cause for concern. However, rainstorms throughout the game were a contributing factor.

If the Ravens and 49ers meet in the Super Bowl, the most pivotal matchup will be Baltimore’s rushing attack vs. San Fran’s run defense. The 49ers had trouble containing the Packers’ ball carriers (28 rushes for 136 yards, 4.9 yards per carry), while the Ravens combined for 229 yards vs. Houston.

San Fran welcomes the Lions to Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, and the 49ers are 6-3 on home turf.

Detroit’s offense came out firing in the wild card victory over the Rams but sputtered in the second half and nearly lost the game. Jared Goff and Co. were much more consistent in last week’s win vs. the Buccaneers, scoring touchdowns on three straight second-half drives.

The Lions’ rushing defense is among the best in the NFL and poses a threat to Christian McCaffrey’s production. If CMC is held in check, it’ll be up to Purdy to carry the offensive workload. Deebo Samuel is questionable for the NFC Championship after leaving vs. Green Bay with a shoulder injury, and the former South Carolina Gamecock has been vital for San Fran.

When Samuel missed two games earlier this year, the 49ers averaged only 17 points in a pair of losses. If San Francisco can claim victory over the Lions, the two-week break before the Super Bowl will be much-needed to get Samuel as healthy as possible.
