Rain returns to Alabama soon; could there be storms?
Alabama’s next round of rain is expected to begin as soon as tonight, and rain could last on and off into early Saturday.
The National Weather Service isn’t expecting any flooding, or any severe weather. There could be a few thunderstorms in the southern half of Alabama on Friday, however.

Rain could begin late tonight in parts of the state, and widespread rain is expected across Alabama on Friday.
NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center is expecting, at most, a half-inch to an inch of rain for parts of Alabama over the next two days, with eastern Alabama potentially seeing the higher totals (that forecast is at the top of this post).
Rain could last into Saturday for parts of northern Alabama, and Sunday could be on the drier side.
No blasts of cold air are expected to follow this round of rain, according to weather service forecasts. Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday are expected to be in the 60s and 70s statewide.
The next weather system that could bring rain back to Alabama is expected to approach on Monday into Tuesday.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has added for Monday a risk of severe weather to the west of Alabama, in Mississippi, but severe storms aren’t expected in Alabama, at least so far.
