Raiders’ Josh Jacobs gets NFL’s biggest fine of Week 9

Five days after firing its coach and general manager, Las Vegas defeated the New York Giants 30-6 as running back Josh Jacobs had 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders on Sunday.

Jacobs got 5 of those yards on a third-and-6 carry at the New York 10-yard line with 52 seconds left in the first half.

There was no penalty on the play, but that didn’t prevent the NFL from fining Jacobs $21,855 for unnecessary roughness. The league apparently determined Jacobs initiated contact with his helmet on the play, and, by more than $5,000, the former Alabama ball-carrier received the largest of the 17 fines levied by the NFL for Week 9 transgressions.

The NFL announced the fines on Saturday.

Jacobs had a response on social media: “NFL, y’all gotta chill with the bs.”

Jacobs and the Raiders return to action against the New York Jets at 7:20 p.m. CST Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. NBC will televise the game.
