Providence serving as model for Huntsville’s Old Big Cove Road development

People wondering what a proposed development at the intersection of Old Big Cove Road and Cecil Ashburn Drive could look like need to look no further than the Village of Providence.

Rob Robinson of Urban Design Associates said the model for what is now being called Big Cove Village is Providence on the west side of Huntsville.

“We know Providence really well,” said Robinson, whose firm is involved with the project. “It is a great model. It is working well. When you talk to people who live there, they are very excited about it.”

Robinson and Tom Lowe of T2 Capital Management, LLC – the developer involved with the Big Cove project – said the development is in the conceptual stage.

Elements being considered for the 92-acre site are like those found at Providence: Various types of housing, lots of different shops and restaurants, open spaces and parks that are parts of the neighborhoods involved.
