Presidents Day 2024: Whatâs open, whatâs closed? Banks, post offices, UPS, FedEx, more
Today is Presidents Day, a time set aside to honor all those who have served as the country’s chief executive.
On a federal level, the day honors the country’s first president, George Washington, whose birthday is Feb. 22. The 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, is traditionally included in the official celebration, though some states, like Alabama, omit the Civil War-era leader. Lincoln’s birthday is Feb. 12.
Today, the day is generally a time to recognize all of the country’s top leaders. It is celebrated each year on the third Monday in February.
As a federal holiday, government offices are closed on Presidents Day.

UPS – Open and packages will be delivered on Presidents Day
FedEx – Open and packages will be delivered on Presidents Day
Retailers – Open, including Target and Walmart
Grocery stores – Open
