Prattville police are investigating the death of an unnamed 7-year-old boy who died on Sunday while apparently handling a gun in his home.

The child lived in a Prattville apartment home, said Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson.

His department is handling it as a homicide until the case reaches a grand jury, he said.

He said he had no further information to share, given the active investigation.
