Possible human remains found in north Alabama; investigation underway
A death investigation is underway in north Alabama after possible human remains were found Tuesday in a wooded area, authorities said Thursday.
Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies made the discovery around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hatton community after the sheriff’s office received a call about possible human skeletal remains.
Deputies found “what appeared to be human skeletal bones” in the 11000 block of Highway 101, the sheriff’s office said.
The remains will be sent to the state Department of Forensic Sciences for investigation and identification.
Anyone with information that may be relevant to the investigation was asked to call the sheriff’s office at 256-974-9291.
