Popular vehicle manufacturer recalls over 200,000 cars for faulty brake pedals

American Honda Motor Co. has recalled 259,033 vehicles due to a brake pedal that shifts out of position.

This can prevent the driver from applying the brakes as intended, increasing the risk of a crash or injury, according to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

“The brake pedal pivot pin was not secured properly, which can cause the pedal to shift out of position,” the release reads.

“As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard[s].”

The company is recalling certain 2021-2025 Acura TLX, 2023-2025 Acura MDX, and 2023-2025 Honda Pilot vehicles.

Dealers will inspect and replace the brake pedal assembly as necessary, free of charge, according to the company.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025.

Owners with further questions can contact Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

Honda’s numbers for this recall are FLX and XLY, according to the release.
