Bahama Bob’s, a longtime Gulf Shores eatery popular with locals and visitors alike, caught fire Sunday afternoon, according to numerous reports.

The Orange Beach website reported the fire started about 5 p.m. Sunday, when the packed dining room began to fill with smoke.

The restaurant was quickly evacuated.

The report said the fire appeared to have started in a dumpster and was largely confined to the kitchen area of the building, contrary to social media speculation that the building had “burned down,” although the full extent of the damage has not been determined.

The Gulf Shores Fire Rescue has not released any official information on the fire.
