Popular Crimson Tide-themed restaurant opening second location in Tuscaloosa
Rama Jama’s will open a second location in Tuscaloosa.
“We are so excited to announce that we will now be the home of the second location of Rama Jama’s!” The Venue announced on Facebook. “The menu will be limited but will sure to have all of your favorites. Coming March 2024. More info to come!”
The Venue, which opened in 2022, sits on a five-acre piece of land shared by Tree House Farm & Nursery, a garden center that features a gift shop, garden shop, house plants, landscaping plants, pottery, fountains, yard art and more. It’s located just north of the river on Watermelon Road, opposite of Sokol Park in Northport (at 6052 Watermelon Rd.).
The Venue features three buildings, a stage and a permanent tent enclosing a grass courtyard. It houses several restaurants including Finny’s Pub, Tacos Locos, Pizza Pub, Smokehouse Grille, Liza’s Sweet Shoppe and more.

It’s safe to say, customers are excited.
Bo Hartley Warren commented on the Facebook post, “This. Is. Amazing. Can not wait!!”
“It’s definitely needed!” Kerra Seay said, while Angela Overstreet Hunter wrote, “Yay!!! Good news to hear.”
Gary Lewis opened Rama Jama’s in Tuscaloosa in 1996. Located just outside of Bryant-Denny Stadium along Bryant Drive, the breakfast and lunch spot’s walls and exterior are covered in Alabama sports memorabilia, featuring newspaper and magazine cutouts of Bama legends and famous visitors. ESPN has broadcast from the restaurant several times, including Todd Blackledge’s “Taste of the Town” segment.
The original location, 1000 Paul W Bryant Dr. in Tuscaloosa, remains tucked in the shadows of the southwest corner of Bryant-Denny.
While The Venue mentioned a “limited menu,” it remains to be seen if that includes the Rama Jama’s National Championship BLT, which has a strip of bacon for every Crimson Tide national title. That’s right: Eighteen strips of bacon.

They also have great burgers, including their “large” hamburger with a half-pound beef patty or the “Large Touchdown” burger platter with an 8-ounce burger with a fried egg. But whether it’s at this Venue location or you have to travel to the original, we challenge you to take on the “National Champ Burger,” 18 ounces of beef (in honor of the Crimson Tide’s 18 national championships), two Slices of cheese, two strips of bacon, onion rings and a dill pickle spear.
Lewis sold Rama Jama’s to Michael Hebron in 2017. Rama Jama’s remains a local favorite and a must-see stop for tourists in town for games or campus visits. Finally hanging up his apron after 20 years, Lewis has had a blast with the restaurant that quickly became synonymous with Alabama football.
“It’s been a lot of fun putting it together,” he said. “I didn’t hunt or fish with my children, I hung pictures on the walls at Rama Jama’s. But I told all my employees, the pictures don’t mean anything if they get a bad hamburger. They add to the experience. I’ve been very fortunate.”
