Popular chicken brand recalling tenders, nuggets due to possible metal contamination

One of the most popular chicken brands in the country is recalling thousands of products due to possible foreign material contamination, specifically metal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Perdue Foods, the company based in Perry, Georgia, is recalling over 167,000 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken tender and breast nugget products, according to a release from the USDA.

The USDA was made aware of the issue after getting consumer complaints about metal wire embedded in the product, which was sold directly online to consumers and inside of retail locations nationwide.

All affected products were produced on March 23 and bear the establishment number “P-33944” on the back of the package.

Below is a list of affected products:

  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
  • 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
