Popular Alabama steakhouse chain opening a new restaurant
Big Mike’s Steakhouse, which has been a fan favorite for nearly a decade in Alabama, is set to open its eighth location in Millbrook this August, according to an announcement from the city.
The chain, founded in 2013 in by Thomasville’s Mike Cole, Scott Powell and Caine Conway has been awarded “best steak in Alabama” by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and was recently ranked ninth on This Is Alabama’s dining wish list.
“While it may not have been in business as long as some of the other eateries on our list, it still has garnered a reputation thanks to its full menu of massive steaks, salads, seafood, homemade soups and so much more that has made it a desired dinner for many — no matter which location you visit,” wrote Amber Sutton.
Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley said the renovation of the former WELCOME Food Pantry building on Main Street, which was also the town’s first drugstore, would be “fun to watch” as the restaurant prepares to take over the site.
City leadership say they are excited for not only the restaurant itself, but also what it could bring to their community.
“Not only is this great for our City from an economic development standpoint, if you’ve ever eaten at a Big Mike’s Steakhouse, then you know that our citizens and folks visiting our city will be making plans to visit this place as a dining destination for years to come,” wrote Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson in a Facebook post.
