Pop superstar’s upcoming album features Alabama singer

The musical collaborations between Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard continue.

Pop superstar Cyrus’ upcoming album “Something Beautiful” features rock/soul singer and guitarist Howard.

An Athens native, Howard appears on the song “Walk Of Fame,” according to a 23 second clip with the “Something Beautiful” tracklist Cyrus posted on social media May 19.

In February, Cyrus and Howard duetted on a cover of Queen’s 1980 rockabilly hit “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” during a New York concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live.”

The next night, Cyrus and Howard teamed up again. Backed by hip-hop band The Roots, the two women sang “Nothing Compares 2 U,” the Prince-written ballad Sinéad O’Connor took to a No. 1 hit in 1990, during star-studded TV special, “SNL50: The Anniversary Special.”

Following those two onstage collaborations, Cyrus wrote on X. “Singing beside Brittany has been a dream of mine. She is vocally the best of the best and as the performance grew closer I started questioning my choice to stand next to her and perform. At every rehearsal (which was very few) I was completely blown away. It doesn’t get better than BH.”

Cyrus, 32, daughter of “Achy Breaky Heart” heartthrob Billy Ray Cyrus, rose to fame in the aughts as star of Disney Channel show “Hannah Montana.”

Miley Cyrus’ biggest hits range from the ear-candy of “Party In The U.S.A.” and coming-of-age anthem “Wrecking Ball” to rock-tinged “Angels Like You” and self-love ode “Flowers.” “Something Beautiful” will be Cyrus’ ninth studio album.

Howard first made her name in the 2010s with Grammy winning band Alabama Shakes, with R&B-tinged indie rock, as heard on songs like “Hold On” and “Always Alright.” She eventually went solo, including Grammy-winning stoner ballad “Stay High.”

Now 36, Howard has reunited with Alabama Shakes for a 2025 tour which includes one stop in the band’s home state. Her raw new solo track “Pale, Pale Moon” appears on the soundtrack for hit horror movie “Sinners.”
