Police searching for suspects in vandalism at Noccalula Falls
Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects after Noccalula Falls Park was vandalized with graffiti.
The vandalism took place sometime between Saturday, April 15, and Saturday, April 22, according to Central Alabama Crime Stoppers. Investigators say multiple drawings and writing were located throughout the park.
“City officials take pride in Noccalula Falls Park, as it has been providing tourism and recreation to Alabamians since the 1950s,’’ the agency said in a press release. “In an effort to maintain the park’s beauty, officials are asking anyone with information regarding the recent vandalisms to please come forward.”
Gadsden police are investigating.
“The city takes these vandalisms seriously, as Noccalula Falls Park was placed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1976, and the city works tirelessly to maintain the park’s beauty to preserve its vast history,’’ according to Crime Stoppers.
The City of Gadsden is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the suspects. Central Alabama Crime Stoppers is offering a $500 cash reward, for a total reward of $1,500.00.
