A Mobile woman is in the Metro Jail after police say she doused her husband with a flammable liquid and set him on fire.

Mobile police responded to a home in the 400 block of Hemley Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported medical emergency.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered that 63-year-old Patrice James had set her husband on fire with an undetermined flammable liquid, causing life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

James is charged with domestic violence/assault, although further charges are possible as police say the investigation remains open. She remained in the Mobile Metro Jail as of Thursday afternoon, awaiting an initial court appearance.
