Police investigating graphic, violent graffiti ahead of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Alabama visit

The head of Alabama’s Republican Party is denouncing graphic graffiti left outside the Huntsville building where controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is set to speak Saturday.

GOP chief John Wahl released a photo of the graffiti found at Brewers Cooperative. On Saturday, the venue is hosting political group Moms for Liberty’s annual dinner featuring Greene as the guest speaker. The graffiti sprayed on the wall said “F*** MTG and M4L,” referencing the Georgia Republican and Moms for Liberty. Underneath was written “Shoot those crackers.” The graffiti has since been painted over.

Wahl said the graffiti was meant to serve as intimidation ahead of Greene’s visit.

“This kind of hate-filled rhetoric is both disgusting and deeply troubling. It has no place in a society that stands for the values of freedom, civility, and respect,” Wahl said. “When someone vandalizes a venue with a message calling for people to be shot simply because of their beliefs, that’s not a protest—it’s political terrorism. This latest act of vandalism is just one of many threats aimed at this event.

“What makes this even more outrageous is that the attacks are not just targeting the event organizers, but also an African American business owner—Chris Horn—who is simply trying to provide a space for open dialogue and free expression. Chris is a good man, running an honest business, and he should never be subjected to threats or violence for allowing a conservative event in his venue. Targeting a person’s business for their political views is economic terrorism, plain and simple,” he said.

In a statement, Huntsville Police said the incident is being investigated.

“The Huntsville Police Department is investigating a vandalism incident involving vulgar and offensive graffiti discovered at Stovehouse on Friday, June 27. This goes beyond property damage – it’s a deliberate act meant to disrupt and offend, and it has no place in our community. HPD takes these types of incidents seriously and is actively working to identify and hold those responsible accountable. Anyone with information is asked to call HPD at 256-532-7463 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 256-53-CRIME,” the department said.

Greene is a polarizing figure in Congress where she has been criticized -sometimes from her own party – for her fiery rhetoric. Moms for Liberty Madison County chapter chair said the event is sold out.

A counter-protest is scheduled just outside the event and several groups are hosting a Marjorie Taylor Queens Book Drive with a community fair, speakers and storytime hour.
