Police assist Hoover High School with lockdown after student reports ‘suspicious situation’

Hoover police and student resource officers on Thursday assisted with a lockdown at Hoover High School after a student reported seeing “a suspicious situation on campus,” police said.

Capt. Keith Czeskleba said officers and school officials are investigating to determine what if anything suspicious occurred.

Police were called at about 1:30 p.m. and could be seen at every entrance to the campus.

Concerned parents were gathered at the scene. Some said their children texted them.

Efforts to reach school officials were not immediately successful.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
