Police arrest man for evading, striking multiple officers with vehicle

North Alabama police arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly evaded a traffic stop and hit multiple law enforcement officers with a car.

Earlier in the day, Hartselle police attempted to stop a vehicle being driven erratically, according to a news release from the Morgan County sheriff’s department. The vehicle, apparently driven by Jackson Longfellow Stone, fled to Decatur, where a Decatur police officer was struck.

Stone then drove between Hartselle and Falkville jurisdictions, hit another deputy and attempted to hit other law enforcement vehicles, according to the sheriff’s department.

Stone was eventually arrested by a Priceville police officer and charged with felony attempting to evade a police officer by Hartselle police. His bond has been set at $100,000.

The sheriff’s department said that other charges are likely.

The department did not detail any injuries related to the incident.
