Poarch Band of Creek Indians name new Chief Financial Officer
The Poarch Creek Bank of Indians has named Suresh Geer as its new Chief Financial Officer, the tribe announced in a release Tuesday.
Geer spent 21 years as part of the financial team for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, including the past seven as its CFO.
The Poarch Band of Creek Indians are descendants of a segment of the original Creek Nation, which at one time covered nearly all of Alabama, as well as Georgia. They have lived together for nearly 200 years in and around their reservation in Poarch in southwestern Alabama.
“The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has gained a well-respected reputation from their successful domestic and international business operations, philanthropy, and contributions throughout the State of Alabama and beyond,” Geer said. “I am honored to join their team and help further the prosperity and financial well-being of the Tribe.”
Among the tribe’s business interests is the OWA Parks & Resort in Foley and Wind Creek Casino in Atmore. But their enterprises extend well beyond Alabama, with 10 Wind Creek Hospitality locations in the U.S. and Caribbean.
“It’s an honor to have Suresh on our PCI team,” said CEO Stephanie Bryan, “as he brings a vast knowledge of the tribal finance industry, as well as valuable leadership experience to the table. I am confident that he will continue the impressive financial legacy that PCI has established.”
Born and raised in London, England before relocating to New York City, Geer earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting at St. John’s University. He earned a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Miami while working for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s finance division.
Geer and his wife, Indira, have two daughters and currently live in Pensacola, Fla.
