Pizza chain has closed 26 stores in the past month
A national pizza chain has closed 26 units in multiple states.
The industry publication PMO Pizza reports MOD Pizza has shut down more than two dozen restaurants in 11 states and the District of Columbia in recent weeks.
This list, according to PMO, includes five locations in California, three in the Dallas area, three in Philadelphia, three in Chicago, three in Washington, D.C, two in Wisconsin, two in Seattle and one each in Florida, Oklahoma, Virginia and Oregon. One franchised restaurant in the Atlanta market closed in March.
MOD Pizza CEO Beth Scott told PMO in an email that the restaurants had “underperformed” for some time.
“Like any successful business, we continually evaluate the performance of all of our assets,” Scott said. “In a company of our size, not every location is going to be successful over time due to a wide range of factors.”
