One of the top players from North Alabama will be headed to Birmingham.

Pisgah athlete Luke Gilbert, who quarterbacked Pisgah to an 11-win season in Class 2A, announced his commitment to UAB on Sunday via social media.

He committed to the Blazers over other Division I offers from Murray State, North Alabama and Eastern Kentucky.

One of the top players in Class 2A this season, Gilbert completed threw fir 1,564 yards and 7 touchdowns with a 60.4% completion percentage; he also ran the ball 134 times for 1,444 yards and 21 touchdowns.

On defense, he piled up 39 tackles (31 solo) and six tackles for loss as Pisgah finished 11-2 and made an appearance in the Class 2A state semifinals.

He was a first-team all-state wide receiver as a sophomore in 2022.
