Pisgah all-state athlete Luke Gilbert commits to Jacksonville State
One of the top athletes in north Alabama picked an in-state program close to home ahead of National Signing Day.
Pisgah star Luke Gilbert has committed to continue his football career at Jacksonville State, he announced on social media Saturday.
Gilbert, who has committed to Jax State as a tight end, was previously committed to UAB and also held offers from North Alabama, Murray State and Eastern Kentucky.
A first-team all-state selection in Class 2A, Gilbert was also a finalist for Class 2A Back of the Year and selected as the Huntsville Times Player of the Year.
Playing quarterback for the Eagles, Gilbert threw for 1,564 yards and 17 touchdowns while running for 1,444 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground; he averaged 10.8 yards per carry.
Pisgah’s offense averaged averaged 42.9 yards per game this season, which ranked second in Class 2A, and led the Eagles to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
