Pinson daycare van crash injures 6 children, driver pulled from vehicle after hitting tree

Six children were injured Monday morning when a daycare van ran off the road in Pinson and hit a tree, according to Center Point Fire District Chief Brandon Dahlen.

The crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Bradford Road near Kermit Johnson Elementary School.

The driver was trapped inside, then extricated and taken to UAB Hospital.

The six children were taken to Children’s of Alabama with minor injuries.

Dahlen urged drivers to avoid the area.

It was not immediately known which daycare the van belongs to. Palmerdale and Glennwood firefighters are also on the scene with Jefferson County deputy sheriffs.
