Pilot missing after plane with blood in it crashes in south Alabama field
An empty, small plane was found wrecked in a south Alabama field Friday morning.
Authorities said there was broken glass and some blood in the plane, but no pilot found.
Baldwin County EMA Director Tom Tyler said his office was notified shortly after 10 a.m. after the crash was reported to the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department.
The single-engine, two-seater Cessna was found off Gardner Road and County Road 95. There were tire marks in the field where the plane crashed
“It was flipped upside down and the occupants were no longer there,” Tyler said. “They apparently had walked away and were transported somewhere.”
As of early Friday afternoon, Tyler said he did not know if they had been located.
“I certainly have not heard from any area hospitals,” he said.
“We were not called to the scene to provide any assistance,” Tyler said. “We were standing by but there was need.”
According to WKRG, authorities believe the crash happened Thursday night and officials have been trying to contact the plane’s owner and/or pilot.
