Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts wins NFL weekly award
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season.
In a 38-31 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, the former Alabama QB completed 29-of-38 passes for 319 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
After falling behind 24-17 in the fourth quarter, Philadelphia scored three touchdowns in the final period, with two coming on passes by Hurts.
Hurts became the sixth player in NFL history to post at least six consecutive games with 300 or more yards of total offense and at least two touchdowns passing and/or rushing in Sunday’s contest.
Hurts was the NFC Offensive Player of the Week twice last season – for Weeks 12 and 13.
The other Player of the Week Award winners for Week 8 included Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, AFC Offensive; Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons, AFC Defensive; Carolina Panthers linebacker Frankie Luvu, NFC Defensive; New York Jets punter Thomas Morstead, AFC Special Teams; and Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, NFC Special Teams.
Another former Alabama quarterback has won one of the weekly awards this season. Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa was the AFC Player of the Week for Week 1.
