Philadelphia Eagles draft Alabama’s Tyler Steen in the 3rd round of the 2023 NFL Draft
Tyler Steen pushed the streak of Alabama left tackles being drafted to three straight years.
The transfer from Vanderbilt was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round and the 65th overall pick. He joins an offensive line room that includes former Tide center Landon Dickerson, receiver DeVonta Smith and quarterback Jalen Hurts.
A three-year starter in Nashville, Steen made the move to Tuscaloosa for his senior season where he started every game at left tackle.
He continues the streak after each of the last two were first-round picks. Alex Leatherwood went 17th overall in 2021 to the Raiders before Evan Neal was picked seventh overall by the Giants last spring.
Expand the net to both tackle spots and the Crimson Tide had a four-year streak with first-round picks broken when including Jonah Williams (11th in 2019) and Jedrick Wills (10th in 2020).
Leatherwood moved to guard early in his rookie season with the Raiders and that’s not out of the question for Steen at the next level.
