Peter Frampton adds Alabama date to ‘Never Say Never’ tour; here’s how to get tickets

Peter Frampton is coming to Alabama this fall on his “Never Say Never” tour. The guitarist and singer, 73, is set to perform on Nov. 20 at the BJCC Concert Hall in Birmingham. Show time is 7:30 p.m. at the venue, which seats about 3,000 people.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 1, via Ticketmaster, after pre-sales that run through Thursday. Prices range from $60.50 to $125.50, plus service charges. VIP packages cost $250.50-$510.50 and include perks such as front row seats and fan merchandise.

Frampton, a classic rocker, played with Humble Pie in the 1960s before going solo in 1971. His breakout album, “Frampton Comes Alive!” was released in 1976 and included the hits “Show Me the Way,” “Baby, I Love Your Way” and “Do You Feel Like We Do.” He became a sensation with the live record, which included “talk box” guitar effects that became one of Frampton’s trademarks. According to his publicist, “Frampton Comes Alive!” has sold more than 17 million records worldwide.

Frampton has released more than a dozen albums since then, maintaining a loyal fan base. He announced a farewell tour in 2019, revealing that he’d been diagnosed with inclusion body myositis. The degenerative disease causes progressive weakness of the muscles, including the wrists and fingers, and affects strength and mobility.

Frampton went back on the road in summer 2023, however, calling his new trek the “Never Say Never” tour. He announced eight additional dates this week — all in November and all in Southern cities — including the stop in Birmingham.

“At the end of every Finale Tour show I did say, ‘Never Say Never,’ and I am always full of hope for the impossible,” Frampton said via a press release. “I’m very pleased to let you know that I am feeling strong and my fingers are still roaming the fretboard. Every note I play now has more meaning and soul. I love playing live and this fighter wants to stay in the ring for as long as he can.”

Frampton has played in Alabama before, including a 2014 show at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater with the Doobie Brothers, and an appearance in 1999 at Birmingham’s former City Stages festival. An AL.com reader also recalls Frampton playing in the ‘70s at Birmingham’s Rickwood Field, in “a group that got booed called Frampton’s Camel before Peter Frampton hit it big.”

Frampton has a new live album set for release on Friday, “Peter Frampton At Royal Albert Hall.” It was recorded during a sold-out show in London in November 2022, and includes classics such as “Show Me The Way” and “Baby, I Love Your Way.”
