Person reportedly sets themselves on fire outside Trump trial

A person has reportedly set themselves on fire outside the Manhattan courtroom where jury selection is underway in one of the cases against former President Donald Trump.

CNN’s Laura Coates told the network a “charred human being” is outside the courtroom. CNN reported the Secret Service spoke to Trump as the incident was occurring but details surrounding the situation are unclear.

AP is reportingemergency personnel rushed away a person on a stretcher after the flames were put out by fire extinguishers and people trying to bat the flames away.

A full jury of 12 people and six alternates had been seated in Trump’s hush money case just minutes earlier, the AP reported, drawing the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president a step closer to opening statements.

Trump faces charges related to a $130,000 payment made to his lawyer before the 2016 election related to porn actor Stormy Daniels’ claims she had a sexual encounter with the former president. Trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records but denies the charges.

He faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
