Pensacola Marine charged with murder after missing Florida escort’s body found in Alabama pond

An active duty Marine is being held on murder and other charges in connection with the death of a missing escort whose body was found Wednesday in a pond in Mobile, authorities said.

The Escambia County, Florida Sheriff’s Office said it learned on Saturday that Tshey Bennett was missing.

“Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance, investigators have been working the case as a potential homicide,” the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation led authorities to Bennett’s body, which was found Wednesday in a pond “located in an abandoned neighborhood in Mobile,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators identified Willie Ellington, a 20-year-old active duty Marine based at Naval Air Station Pensacola, as a suspect.

Ellington was found Wednesday afternoon in Opelika, where he was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder and possession of child pornography.

The investigation revealed Bennet was working as an escort when she met Ellington at the Sweet Dreams Inn in Florida at the time of her disappearance, according to the sheriff’s office.
