Pensacola man, 74, tried to meet 14-year-old boy for sex, police say

A 74-year-old Pensacola man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly attempted to meet with a minor for sex.

According to a report from WEAR in Pensacola, Frank Blaine Rhobotham attempted to set up a meeting with who he believed to be a 14-year-old boy to have sex.

The boy, however, was actually an undercover officer working as part of Operation Peek-At-You, a task force designed to target adults soliciting minors for sex.

According to an arrest report, Rhobotham contacted the undercover officer through Grindr, telling the “boy” he wanted to meet to “experiment” and “try sex.”

The report also indicated Rhobotham gave the undercover agent his number, as well as multiple pictures of himself, both of which were used to identify Rhobotham.

Rhobotham was arrested Wednesday and charged with obscene communication to a minor via computer, and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

He was booked into the Escambia County Jail and later released after posting $20,000 bond.
