Two suspects are in custody and a third is sought after a Pell City High School student was attacked in the campus parking lot.

The assault happened during afternoon dismissal Tuesday, according to school officials.

One of the attackers, authorities said, had a handgun during the assault. A school administrator intervened, and the suspects fled the scene.

The victim received stiches for a head wound. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Additional security was provided at the school on Wednesday.

“Please continue to pray for our students and staff,’’ a school statement read. “Thank you for your support.”

Pell City police said Tyler Davenport, 19, and Jacob Higginbotham, 18, were taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon. They are from Talladega County.

Davenport is charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, menacing, and possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds.

Higginbotham is charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police are still searching for 19-year-old Alexis Wood. She is charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds.

The suspects are not Pell City students.
