A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured Saturday in Birmingham.

The crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Green Springs Avenue at the Interstate 65 access ramp.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Battalion Chief Clay Hendon said the male was rushed to UAB Hospital. He described the victim’s injuries as traumatic.

It was not immediately confirmed whether or not the driver stopped.
