A pedestrian was struck and killed late Thursday in Talladega County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as James W. Meeks. He was 31 and lived in Coosa County’s Weogufka community.

The crash happened at 10:40 p.m. on Alabama 21 near Desoto Caverns Parkway, about seven miles north of Sylacauga.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey said Meeks was struck by 45-year-old Trederick L. Cook of Sylacauga.

Meeks was pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers are investigating.
