A Fort Payne man was struck and killed Thursday night in a one vehicle crash, according to Fort Payne police.

Capt. David Barnes said the incident happened at about 5:17 p.m. in the 4100 block of Williams Avenue Northeast.

Barnes said the pedestrian, David Alexander Elkins, 19, was in the northbound lane of traffic and was struck by a 2013 Nissan Sentry, traveling north on Williams Avenue.

Elkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
