A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run on Interstate 65 in Birmingham.

The crash happened at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday on I-65 at Fourth Avenue South.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the victim was walking in the southbound travel lanes when he was hit.

The driver did not stop. A description of the suspect vehicle has not yet been released.

The victim was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. He has not yet been identified but was an adult Black male.

Birmingham police are investigating.
