A man was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle on Lorna Road in Hoover.

The crash happened around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday near Municipal Drive and the Interstate 459 overpass.

Hoover police Capt. Keith Czeskleba said the victim was taken to UAB Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stopped and remained on the scene.

That portion of Lorna Road was still closed about 9:30 p.m.
