Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Tuscaloosa

Authorities are on the scene of a pedestrian fatally struck by a train.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department received a call at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday from a Norfolk Southern Railway employee reporting that a train had struck a person who was walking along the tracks, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor.

Officers responded to the area of McFarland Boulevard and Dr. Edward Hillard Drive.

Taylor said Dr. Edward Hillard Drive at 13th Street East near DCH Regional Medical Center will be closed for the several hours.
