Peak North America USA today announced a new $24 million project to open a facility in Mobile County’s Irvington community to produce wood products equipment.

The Mobile Chamber said the project will create 175 jobs over the next four years.

Renovations on the facility at 7555 Half Mile Road will begin this month. Operations are scheduled to begin in June.

The move comes following Peak North America’s acquisition of fabrication firm Endurance Equipment Co. in Irvington.

Peak North America USA provides construction, installation, fabrication, and manufacturing services for the forest products industry.

Peak North America CEO and founder Brian Fehr said in a statement the company plans to “create a culture of safety, efficiency, enthusiasm, and inclusivity for all our employees, with the intention of growing operations beyond projected forecasts, and we will use the local workforce and community to do so.”

The Irvington facility will provide equipment and services, with a focus on sawmills, pellet plants and OSB (Oriented Strand Board) plants.

“Peak North America USA has an established track record of innovation within the wood products industry, and I am happy to see a company with this kind of pedigree put down roots in Alabama,” Alabama Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield said.
