Peacock original series ‘Poker Face’ returns with season 2 next week, here’s a season 1 recap
One of Peacock’s most prized original series, Poker Face, is set to return with its season two premiere Thursday, May 8 after a two-year hiatus.
Starring Natasha Lyonne, most iconically known for her roles on Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll, Poker Face follows Lyonne’s character, Charlie, who has the extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying.
Deciding to put her unique abilities to good use, Charlie hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but investigate and solve.
The whodunnit series has drawn a large following since its debut, not only because of Lyonne’s perfect portrayal of Charlie, but also because the show pulls star-studded guest stars in each episode such as Adrien Brody, Noah Segan, Tim Meadows, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and more.
Poker Face season 1 recap
For those who have yet to cave and watch Poker Face, season one opens with Charlie working as a waitress at a Nevada casino, and after the murder of her best friend, Charlie finds herself deep within the secret scheme of a casino mogul’s son (played by Adrien Brody).
After being driven out of town, Charlie makes her way to New Mexico where she stumbles upon the first mysterious death to catch her eye. Determined to solve the head-scratching case, she launches her own investigation before moving onto her next destination.
As Charlie travels across the country, viewers are introduced to a wide array of memorable characters played by the iconic guest stars mentioned above. By the end of season one, though, Charlie finds herself face-to-face with the Nevada casino mogul himself, Sterling Frost Sr. (played by Ron Perlman).
With a limited number of places to hide out, Charlie seeks safety at her sister’s house before she meets Frost’s rival, fellow casino owner Beatrix Hasp (played by Rhea Perlman), which sets the stage beautifully for the next round of cases for the upcoming season two.
