Paula Deen’s Panama City restaurant closes

Panama City now has one fewer restaurant.

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen in Pier Park closed suddenly last week, WJHG reported. The closure resulted in 30 layoffs.

The Panama City location is no longer listed on the restaurant chain’s website, which shows only locations in Nashville, Branson, Foley, Myrtle Beach and Pigeon Forge.

This isn’t the first time the Panama City Beach location has shut its doors, though staff told WJHG this closure appears to be permanent. In November 2019, about eight months after first opening its doors, the Pier Park location closed. At the time, parent company Paula Deen Ventures said it was working on “restructuring” operations.

The restaurant remained closed for two years, reopening in 2021 under a different licensing partner.
