Paul Finebaum has Alabama winning SEC West: âBook your reservations to Atlantaâ
After Alabama’s 34-20 win over Tennessee, Paul Finebaum has declared Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide the SEC West representative for the SEC Championship Game.
Granted, there is still work to do, but the SEC Network analyst has seen enough.
“Book it,” he said on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Sunday. “Book your reservations to Atlanta. This Alabama team is one of the most resilient I have seen under Nick Saban. Since that Texas game, I think this is one of Nick Saban’s best coaching jobs – if not the best. This is not the talented Alabama teams we’ve seen in the past. We don’t have Heisman Trophy winners like Bryce Young or Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts or Mac Jones.”
Down 20-7 at half, the comeback was fueled by big plays from Jalen Milroe and tailback Jase McClellan and a defense that smothered Joe Milton III and the Volunteers (5-2, 2-2) after the half and even provided the decisive TD.
Jihaad Cambell took a scoop-and-score 24 yards midway through the fourth quarter after Chris Braswell knocked the ball loose from Milton.
“It is a completely different operation,” Finebaum said. “They dig down deep, remember yesterday? They looked lost yesterday at halftime, down 13. They stormed back, and Nick Saban has this team in a good place, a bye week now. LSU in two weeks for the SEC West.”
