Pat McAfee addresses ‘College GameDay’ future; Rece Davis responds
Pat McAfee’s popularity has led to speculation to his future on ESPN’s “College GameDay.”
The former Indianapolis Colts punter put some of that speculation to rest recently when he announced that he will “definitely” be returning to the popular college football pregame show for the upcoming season.
“I am definitely on College GameDay for one more year,” McAfee said. “Definitely. That’s a definite situation. After that, conversation’s pending. TBD.”
Last month, McAfee tweeted that no long-term deal was in place, leading to talk about his future on the show. According to Barrett Sports Media, McAfee signed a two-year deal with ESPN last September to join “GameDay.”
”GameDay” host Rece Davis then retweeted the video with the message, “Yessir! Always up for a Saturday night (and morning) in Baton Rouge.”
McAfee’s antics have been a big hit on the show. McAfee made a memorable visit to the Vola Navy on ahead of No. 6 Tennessee’s game with No. 3 Alabama. Rocking checkered overalls, McAfee attempted a backflip off a boat which resulted in a belly-flop into the Tennessee River. He and Peyton Manning also led the Tennessee band in “Rocky Top.”
