Former Alabama football defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis left the Crimson Tide midway through the 2024 season. In an interview published on Sunday, the Mississippi native, now playing at Colorado, shared his reason for leaving Tuscaloosa.
“Last year, when I was there, they were literally messing me over and weren’t giving me playing time,” Oatis said in the interview. “That was a big part of why I left. The new staff wasn’t for me. And once I found out they didn’t mess with me, I knew it was time to get up and get out of there.”
Oatis played in three games for Alabama during the 2024 season. He then opted out for the year after not playing in the Crimson Tide’s loss to Vanderbilt, preserving his redshirt.
Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kane Wommack alluded to potential injury trouble for Oatis after the opt-out.
“I think for Jehiem, obviously, he’s been battling some injuries, has not been able to perform or produce the way that any of us would like,” Wommack said in September. “But my focus is really on the players that are going to do everything they can to help us to win football games. So that’s really where my focus is right now.”
Oatis was injured and missed DeBoer’s first spring practice as Alabama’s head coach. He played sparingingly early in the year, finishing with two total tackles.
The SEC’s coaches voted Oatis freshman All-SEC in 2022. He also was a major contributor to 2023’s College Football Playoff squad.
When he opted out, DeBoer seemingly had no hard feelings.
“Kind of felt like it was maybe going that direction,” he said the week of Oatis’ decision. “Not just today, or yesterday, or here in the last few days. We move forward with the guys that really are able to help us win and focused on our program. As we go through this, I don’t want to put finality to it, but you’re always going to want what’s best for all people, and Jehiem’s one of them.”
Colorado lists Oatis as a junior for the 2025 season. He’ll have two years to play two seasons in Boulder for head coach Deion Sanders after the redshirt from 2024.
Two games into Minkah Fitzpatrick’s second NFL season, the Miami Dolphins traded the former Alabama All-American to the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Monday, the Dolphins got Fitzpatrick back.
Miami and Pittsburgh are swapping all-star defensive backs in an NFL trade, with the Dolphins sending disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Steelers for Fitzpatrick, a three-time All-Pro safety, the Miami Herald, NFL Network and ESPN reported on Monday.
Ramsey announced he was headed to Pittsburgh via social media on Monday, with ESPN reporting the trade comes with a new deal for Ramsey worth $1.5 million more in 2025, boosting his compensation for the coming season to $26.6 million.
The Steelers also are receiving tight end Jonnu Smith, with the Dolphins getting Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick. The Miami Herald reported Pittsburgh had doubled Smith’s salary for 2025 to $12 million as part of the trade.
After using the 11th choice in the 2018 NFL Draft to add Fitzpatrick from the Crimson Tide, Miami sent the defensive back, a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2021 seventh-round pick to Pittsburgh on Sept. 16, 2019, for first- and fifth-round picks in 2020 and a sixth-round pick in 2021.
Fitzpatrick earned the first of his five Pro Bowl selections that season. He also was a first-team All-Pro pick in 2019, an honor he would earn again in 2020 and 2022.
Fitzpatrick intercepted 17 passes in his first four seasons with the Steelers, including tying for the NFL lead with six in 2022. But in the past two seasons, Fitzpatrick totaled one interception.
Ramsey has been a seven-time Pro Bowler and also has earned first-team All-Pro recognition three times in nine NFL seasons.
At Alabama, Fitzpatrick was a two-time consensus All-American. He won the Bednarik Award as the nation’s best defensive player and the Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back for the Crimson Tide’s CFP national-championship team in 2017.

If you wanted to place a Wimbledon futures bet, that would work since the tournament ends on July 13, well within the 30-day window. However, you will have to wait until your bet settles to get the bonus bets.
If you would rather get them sooner, then a bet I like on today’s Wimbledon action is in the matchAmerican Taylor Fritz vs Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard: Fritz to win and both players to win a set (+110).
Fritz is the 5th seed in the tournament and is rightfully a heavy favorite, but he’s going to have his hands full with Perricard, who excels on grass. Perricard has won an impressive 91.7% of his service games on grass this year, and he has won at least one set in 16 of the 20 matches he has played on grass.
Fritz should be able to survive this tough first-round draw, but he won’t get through it unscathed.
A brand new season of the hit reality series The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys premieres on Bravo Monday, June 30 at 9/8c.

Season two kicks off with the brothers battling once again, but this time, to save the farm from potential financial ruin. Both eldest brother Steven and younger brother Cole go head-to-head with different ideas to save the farm.

“Everyone at Camp ASCCA both campers and staff are safe,” the camp wrote in a Facebook post Sunday.
“However, lightning struck the dining hall, and the building has suffered fire and water damage. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have campers with us for this week.”
The post asked that guardians make plans to pick up their campers Sunday night or Monday morning at 9 a.m.
Established in 1976, Camp ASCCA has been a nationally recognized leader in therapeutic recreation and is “known throughout the world for its superior quality services,” according to its website.
Representatives for the camp said they are working to assess the dining hall damage this week and do “everything [they] can to get up and running ASAP.”
Benjamin Russell wide receiver Cederian Morgan, the state’s top senior recruit, will announce his college decision this week.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Morgan’s commitment is set for noon Wednesday in Alexander City. His finalists are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Clemson and Colorado.
Most recruiting services indicate the Crimson Tide is a heavy favorite to land Morgan and continue its recent recruiting hot streak.
“He’s a great, great kid first of all,” said Johnson, who led Montgomery Catholic to two straight state titles before replacing Smitty Grider in Alexander City. “He’s a team first guy. He was one of the first guys I met when I got here. He wants to do something special with this team and for this city, and I highly respect that. A guy with his talent could easily be like, ‘I want the ball. Who is going to get me the ball?’ That’s not Cederian at all.”
The Crimson Tide currently has 14 commitments for the Class of 2026, including three 5-stars and seven 4-stars.
On3 has Morgan ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation and No. 15 overall prospect.
The Holiday week sets up to be a big week for in-state recruiting announcements overall.
Williamson 2027 LB Ellis McGaskin is set to announce his decision at 1 p.m. today. His offers include Notre Dame, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Arkansas, Auburn and Penn State.
On Wednesday, Theodore 2026 LB JJ Bush will announce at 6 p.m. His finalists are Arkansas, LSU, Cincinnati and Missouri.
Saraland 2026 WR DeShawn Spencer will announce July 4. He will choose between Duke and Maryland.
At 9:31 a.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service released a flood advisory in effect until 12:30 p.m. for Mobile County.
The weather service states, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.”
“Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas,” states the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
Your guide to weather alerts: advisories, watches, and warnings
Flash flood warning: Take action!
A flash flood warning is issued when a flash flood is imminent or occurring. If you are in a flood-prone area, move immediately to high ground. A flash flood is a sudden violent flood that can take from minutes to hours to develop. It is even possible to experience a flash flood in areas not immediately receiving rain.
Flood warning: Take action!
A flood warning is declared when flooding is on the verge of happening or is already underway.
Flood advisory: Be aware:
A flood advisory is released when flooding is not expected to reach a severity level necessitating a warning. Nonetheless, it can still cause considerable inconvenience and, without exercising caution, potentially lead to situations that threaten life and/or property.
Flood watch: Be prepared:
A flood watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding. It doesn’t guarantee that flooding will occur, but it signifies that the possibility exists.
Keeping safe during floods: Expert advice from the weather service
In flood-prone regions or while camping in low-lying areas, understanding and following the weather service flood safety guidelines can be a lifesaver:
Seek higher ground:
If you reside in a flood-prone region or are camping in low-lying terrain, the first step to safety is relocating to higher ground.
Follow evacuation orders:
If local authorities issue an evacuation order, heed it promptly. Prior to leaving, secure your home by locking it.
Disconnect utilities and appliances:
If time permits, disconnect your utilities and appliances. This precaution minimizes electrical hazards during flooding.
Steer clear of flooded basements and submerged areas:
Avoid basements or rooms submerged in water with electrical outlets or cords. Preventing electrical accidents is crucial.
Swift evacuation for your safety:
If you notice sparks or hear buzzing, crackling, snapping, or popping noises, evacuate immediately. Avoid any water that may be charged with electricity.
Stay away from floodwaters:
Never attempt to walk through floodwaters, even if they appear shallow. Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can forcefully sweep you off your feet.
Seek higher ground when trapped:
Should you become trapped by moving water, reach the highest point possible and dial 911 to contact emergency services.
During periods of heavy rainfall, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas, the risk of flooding escalates. Remember this crucial advice: never attempt to drive through water on the road, even if it appears shallow. According to the weather service, as little as 12 inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away most vehicles. Prioritize your safety by staying informed and prepared.
Rainy roadways ahead: Essential safety tips for heavy rain
Heavy rainfall may lead to flooding if prolonged or if there is excessive runoff. Excessive runoff can be a result of saturated ground and/or rainfall intensity. Follow these recommendations from the weather service to stay safe in heavy rain:
Beware of swollen waterways:
In heavy rain, refrain from parking or walking near culverts or drainage ditches, where swift-moving water can pose a grave danger.
Maintain safe driving distances:
Adhere to the two-second rule for maintaining a safe following distance behind the vehicle in front of you. In heavy rain, allow an additional two seconds of distance to compensate for reduced traction and braking effectiveness.
Slow down and drive with care:
If it is raining and the roads are wet, slow down. Take your foot off the accelerator and let your speed drop gradually. Never use the brakes suddenly because this may cause the car to skid.
Choose your lane wisely:
Stay toward the middle lanes – water tends to pool in the outside lanes.
Prioritize visibility:
Turn on your headlights and be careful of other vehicles to the rear and in blind spot areas as they are especially difficult to see through rain-spattered windows.
Watch out for slippery roads:
The initial half-hour of rain is when roads are slickest due to a mixture of rain, grime, and oil. Exercise heightened caution during this period.
Keep a safe distance from large vehicles:
Large trucks and buses can reduce your visibility with tire spray. Avoid tailgating and pass them swiftly and safely.
Mind your windshield wipers:
Heavy rain can overload the wiper blades. When visibility is so limited that the edges of the road or other vehicles cannot be seen at a safe distance, it is time to pull over and wait for the rain to ease up. It is best to stop at rest areas or other protected areas.
If the roadside is your only option, pull off as far as possible, preferably past the end of a guard rail, and wait until the storm passes. Keep your headlights on and turn on emergency flashers to alert other drivers of your position.
In the face of heavy rain, these precautions can make a significant difference in ensuring your safety on the road. Remember to stay informed about weather conditions and heed guidance from local authorities for a secure journey.
Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
“These inner-city rats, they live off the federal government,” Tuberville said. “And that’s one reason we’re $37 trillion in debt. And it’s time we find these rats and we send them back home, that are living off the American taxpayers that are working very hard every week to pay taxes.”
Tommy Tuberville wants to be Alabama’s governor, and his party is rolling over for him like puppies panting for a belly rub.
Instead of questioning his qualifications (y’all know the man barely lives here), they’re caving to the former football coach turned empty-suited U.S. Senator.
They’re paving a path to Montgomery for him even though it is clear Tuberville has no desire to lead, guard and protect Alabamians who may not vote for him or look like him.
And he certainly does not want to lead, guard and protect those who do not pray like him.
He made that emphatically clear this week. On a podcast, he said residents of major American cities are not welcome in Alabama if they are going to “bring that Communist, Islamic atmosphere with them,” he said.
“We’re not going to deal with it. I’m telling you right now,” he added.
Oh, and that was after calling them “rats.” Yes, the man who wants to be our governor called humans rats. Yes, he did.
